Open Source Database Leader Adds Paul Weinstein as Executive Vice President of Business Development & Clint Smith as General Counsel

Cupertino, Calif. -- July 10, 2006 -- MySQL AB, the developer of the world’s most popular open source database, today announced the appointment of Paul V. Weinstein as executive vice president of business development, and Clint N. Smith as vice president and general counsel. Both executives will be based in the company’s newly-relocated Silicon Valley business headquarters in Cupertino, California.

MySQL AB also announced the promotion of Zack Urlocker to executive vice president of products.

Paul V. Weinstein -- Executive Vice President of Business Development

With MySQL AB, Mr. Weinstein has worldwide responsibility for building and maintaining relationships with the company’s wide range of technology and channel partners, as well as corporate development activity. Prior to joining MySQL, he served as VP for worldwide business development and alliances at Check Point Software, VP of business development and international operations for Zone Labs (acquired by Check Point Software) and SVP sales and marketing at ThinkLink (acquired by Microsoft). In addition, Mr. Weinstein has also held senior management positions at Pacific Telesis, MCA/Universal, GTE/Verizon and previously worked as an investment banker specializing in mergers and acquisitions for Alex Brown & Sons. He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Philosophy.

Clint N. Smith – Vice President and General Counsel

Clint Smith is responsible for MySQL AB’s legal affairs. Prior to joining the company as general counsel, he headed the legal departments for Macromedia, Inc. and UUNET Technologies, Inc. He received his law degree at U.C. Berkeley’s Boalt Hall School of Law and began his career with the Washington DC law firm of Steptoe & Johnson LLP. An experienced technology and corporate lawyer, Mr. Smith has held leadership positions with the American Bar Association’s Section of Science & Technology, as well as with the U.S. Internet Service Provider Association (www.usispa.org), the Business Software Alliance (www.bsa.org), and other technology trade associations.
